U . S . Senate Committee on Commerce , Science , and Transportation Hearing on ‘ The Case for Climate Change Action ’ October 1 , 2003
نویسنده
چکیده
Projections of future climate change made using state-of-the-art climate models suggest that changes over the coming century will be much larger than experienced over the past 100 years. The case for taking action to mitigate these human-induced (or ‘anthropogenic’) changes rests on the credibility of these models. There is a vast scientific literature on the development and testing of these models, summarized in the recent ‘Third Assessment Report’ (henceforth ‘TAR’) produced under the auspices of Working Group 1 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, Houghton et al., 2001). There are two main methods of model testing – comparing model simulations of the present state of the climate system (such as the geographical patterns of temperature, rainand snowfall, sealevel pressure, etc.) against observations, and comparing model simulations of past changes in climate with observations.

Climate changes pose great threats to the main services of ecosystems such as food security, water security and health. This research was carried out in Haraz river basin rangelands, Mazandaran province in the north of Iran in 2015-2017 to analyze the perspectives of Haraz river basin (HRB) pastoralists about climate change. From 5236 local pastoralists, the sample size was consisted of 350 one...

Current tax law makes it difficult to enforce sales taxes on most Internet commerce and has generated considerable policy debate. In this paper we analyze the costs and benefits of enforcing such taxes including revenue losses, competition with retail, externalities, distribution, and compliance costs. The results suggest that the costs of not enforcing taxes are quite modest and will remain so...

Currently, the United States Senate is beginning to work on its version of climate change legislation; it is widely understood that the En...
متن کاملChange in species composition and its implication on climate variation in Bali Strait: Case study in 2006 and 2010
Sardinella lemuru is a dominant small pelagic fish (80-90%) caught by purse seiner in Bali Strait, while the remaining 10-20% consist Decapterus spp., Euthynus affinis, and others. This composition typically varies seasonally, whereas Southeast monsoon season was dominated by S. lemuru, while Northwest monsoon season replaced by Decapterus spp. and E. affinis. Fishing trend in the last 14 years...
